Vuolteenaho (NOT) Queries: dxu@nao.cas.cn Posted: 12 Jul 2026; 08:07 UT Subjects:Optical, Magnetar We observed the magnetar candidate EP260628c/EP J223759.5+531421 discovered by the Einstein Probe mission (Yang et al., ATel #17859; Rea et al., ATel #17870; Lai et al., ATel #17875; Gotz et al., ATel #17876; Coti Zelati et al., ATel #17877)using the 2.56m Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT) equipped with the ALFOSC camera. Observation started at 2026-06-30T04:10:37.119 UT, i.e., 1.50 days post-burst, and a series of Sloan z-band frames were obtained. AT2026stb was discovered by ZTF is located at RA=18:31:15.618, Dec=-05:34:31.92 (Galactic latitude b=+1.9) on 2026 July 8 at g = 17.1, r =15.1mag, and was flagged by DCAP as a nova candidate (DCAP269). In the most recent ZTF observation from 2026 July 12, AT2026stb sits at g = 15.96, r =14.04, i = 12.97 mag, implying that the optical light curve is still rising.</br> </br> The first reported spectroscopy is listed in <a href="https://www.wis-tns.org/object/2026stb">TNS by Claudio Balcon</a> on 2026 July 12 01:38 (UT), showing a reddened continuum with bright H-alpha. </br> </br> The SOAR/Goodman spectrum, obtained via AEON on 2026 July 12 04:21 (UT), covers the region 5000 to 9000 A, with prominent H-alpha, O I, and He I lines. The H alpha line does not show P Cygni absorption, and its emission profile has FWHM = 1200 km/s. We obtained the spectrum by using a fiber-fed integral field spectrograph (KOOLS-IFU; <a href="https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2019PASJ...71..102M/" target="_blank">Matsubayashi et al. 2019</a>, <a href="https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2025PASJ...77.1065M/" target="_blank">Matsubayashi et al. 2025</a>) attached to one of the Nasmyth focuses of the 3.8-m telescope Seimei at Okayama Observatory of Kyoto University. According to <a href="http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/unconf/followups/J02191736+2857158.html" target="_blank">CBAT</a>, TCP J02191736+2857158 was discovered by the NMW-TexasTech survey at an unfiltered magnitude of 12.5 on 2026-07-12.3618 UT. According to the PS1 catalog (<a href="https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2017yCat.2349....0C/" target="_blank">Chambers+, 2017</a>), there is a possible optical counterpart with g=20.97(3), r=20.88(3), i=20.98((2), and z=20.82(3). Thus, the outburst amplitude seems to be about 8.5 mag. We obtained an optical spectrum on 2026-07-12.776 UT by using KOOLS-IFU. The <a href="http://www.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~isogai/atel/tcpj0219+2857.png" target="_blank">quick look spectrum</a> shows a blue continuum with the Balmer, He I, and He II absorption lines. The Hα absorption profile also contains a central emission core. This spectrum and the large amplitude suggest that this object is a new WZ Sge-type dwarf nova.
