Lazarevic (U. Western Sydney, CSIRO), K. Rose (U. Sydney, CSIRO), R. Alsaberi (U. Western Sydney, Gifu U.), Z. Smeaton (U. Western Sydney), on behalf of the RISE collaboration Queries: kovirose@gmail.com Posted: 5 May 2026; 11:36 UT Subjects:Radio, Supernovae As part of an ongoing study of core-collapse supernovae we observed the Type II supernova SN 2024ggi in NGC 3621 with the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) on 15 April 2026 09:30-13:30 UTC. SN 2024ggi was detected at 5.5 GHz with a flux density of 0.56 +/- 0.06 mJy and 9.0 GHz with a flux density of 0.39 +/- 0.05 mJy. Adopting a 7 Mpc distance to the host galaxy these fluxes correspond to specific luminosities of 3.3E+25 erg/sec/Hz and 2.3E+25 erg/sec/Hz at 5.5 GHz and 9.0 GHz, respectively. This implies a significant brightening in the two years since the previous reported radio detection of SN 2024ggi (see ATEL #16616). The ATCA is part of the Australia Telescope National Facility which is funded by the Commonwealth of Australia for operation as a National Facility managed by CSIRO. We acknowledge the Gomeroi people as the traditional owners of the Observatory site. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Password Certification: Kovi Rose (kovirose@gmail.com) https://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=17774 ============================================================================== ============================================================================== This is an automatically-generated notice.
