Carrasco, L. Felix, A. Porras, G. Escobedo, E. Recillas (INAOE, Mexico) Queries: Carrasco@inaoep.mx Posted: 22 Jan 2026; 18:17 UT Subjects:Radio, Infra-Red, Gamma Ray, AGN, Blazar, Quasar We report on a new NIR flare of the intermediate redshift FSRQ S4 0954+658 (z=0.368), also known as CGRaBSJ0958+6533 associated with the gamma-ray source 2FGL0958.6+6533. Our most recent NIR photometry for this source shows that on January 20th,2026 (JD2461060.9072), the object brightness corresponded to J = 13.212 +/- 0.05, H = 12.365 +/- 0.02 and Ks = 11.489 +/- 0.05. The NIR fluxes in the JHK bands had an important increase since our previously observed flux was H = 13.932 +/- 0.05, on JD2460844.644618. Hence, the object has increased its luminosity by a factor of about 4 in this lapse. The object has shown flaring activity in different wavelength bands in the past. (see ATel #3220, #6709, #6996, #7001, #7007, #7046, #7093, #7750, #8445). Our observations are carried out with the 2.1m telescope of the Guillermo Haro Observatory operated by the National Institute for Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (Mexico), equipped with the instrument CANICA a NIR camera. We strongly encourage further multiwavelength coverage. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Password Certification: LUIS CARRASCO (carrasco@inaoep.mx) https://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=17623 ============================================================================== ============================================================================== This is an automatically-generated notice.
