Patra, Ryan J. Foley (UCSC) Queries: kcpatra@ucsc.edu Posted: 14 Nov 2025; 00:48 UT Subjects:Optical, Supernovae, Transient We report the classification of AT 2025actn from spectroscopic observation with the Kast spectrograph on the Shane telescope. The target was supplied by ATLAS. Observation was made on 2025 November 10 UT. Classification was performed with SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024). Name | IAU Name | RA (J2000) | Dec (J2000) | z | Type | Phase | Notes ATLAS25nxy | AT2025actn | 03:52:58.858 | -23:04:44.24 | 0.083 | Ia | -6 d | (1) Notes: When the redshift is given to 2 decimal places, it is derived from the SN spectrum. Otherwise, the redshift is determined from the host galaxy. (1) We measure Si II 6355 velocity of -14,200 km/s. The redshift was determined using emission lines from the host galaxy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Password Certification: Kishore Patra (kcpatra@ucsc.edu) https://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=17492 ============================================================================== ATEL #17493 ATEL #17493 Title: AT 2025abrs is a nova in M31 Author: Shatakshi Chamoli (IIA Bengaluru), Judhajeet Basu (IIA Bengaluru), G. C. Anupama (IIA Bengaluru), Sudhanshu Barway (IIA Bengaluru), Surya (IIA Bengaluru) Queries: shatakshi.chamoli@iiap.res.in Posted: 14 Nov 2025; 06:32 UT Subjects:Optical, Cataclysmic Variable, Nova, Transient We report the spectroscopic classification of AT 2025abrs as a nova in M31. This object was discovered and reported on TNS by XOSS on 2025-10-26.56 UT at a magnitude of 18.93 (clear filter). Spectroscopic observation of this object was performed using the HFOSC instrument mounted on the 2m Himalayan Chandra Telescope, located at the Indian Astronomical Observatory (IAO), Hanle. We stacked two sets of low-resolution (R ~ 600) spectra, each with an exposure of 2100 seconds, observed on 2025-11-11. We identified H-alpha, H-beta, He and Fe II features, with H-alpha at an FWHM of ~1300 km/s, characteristic of a nova outburst. Photometric and spectroscopic follow-up of the object is encouraged. We will continue monitoring this transient using facilities at IAO. We thank the HCT observers for taking the time to carry out ToO observations. IAO is operated by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru, India. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Password Certification: Judhajeet Basu (judhajeet.basu@iiap.res.in) https://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=17493 ============================================================================== ============================================================================== This is an automatically-generated notice.
