Its optical spectrum was obtained on 2025-06-06.705 UT by the SpUpNIC (<a href="https://www.saao.ac.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/SpUpNIC_2016-1.pdf">Crause et al, 2016</a>) mounted on the 1.9m telescope at the Sutherland Observatory, South African Astronomical Observatory, using the grating 6 (wavelength coverage 4400-7000Å, resolution R~3000). As reported to <a href="http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/unconf/followups/J06302516-6955014.html">CBAT</a>, PNV J06302516-6955014 was originally discovered by the Brazilian Transient Search on 2025-06-05.8825 UT at 11.2 mag (unfiltered). There is no counterpart in archival photometric surveys. <a href="http://www.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~tampo/atel/PNVJ0630-69.250606.pdf">My normalized spectrum</a> shows the Balmer and He I lines with a P Cygni profile. The absorption minimum of this P Cygni profile in Hα is located around -600 km/s. Combining these spectral features and its large eruption amplitude, I conclude that this object is a classical nova.
