“IP address” stands for Internet Protocol address, and each
 device that is connected to a network (like the internet) has one.

IP 地址类似于您的电话号码，它是唯一的，这样别人就能找到您。同样，IP 地址也是惟一地标识您计算机的一组数字，这样它就可以发送和接收别的计算机数据。

当前，绝大多数 IP 地址由四组数字组成，由点分开。例如 <code>192.168.1.42</code> 就是一个 IP 地址。

 An IP address can either be dynamic or static. Dynamic
 IP addresses are temporarily assigned each time your computer connects to a
 network. Static IP addresses are fixed, and do not change. Dynamic IP
 addresses are more common that static addresses — static addresses are
 typically only used when there is a special need for them, such as in the
 administration of a server.
