After playing around with the settings I found that I really liked the simplicity yet large number of tools. I basically use it to organize my life now. I create a separate file for things like tools, one node for each tool and I could do a sub node for maintenance, ownersmanual and website. I liked how they prompt for a password and file type at the end of the save; so I can have different passwords for things that are private like a journal and ignore a password for product manuals. Finally, I really like using cherry tree to make all the appropriate associations with files. For example, I have about 30 or 40 different product pdf instructions, pictures and website links from different wood working projects. Recently I wanted to use the same hinge that I had used in a previous project. Went to cherrytree found the web link to the store, instruction manual, pictures, build notes including the tools used all in one simple page. The only reason I give this a 4 is because it could still use some polish and kind of looks like its from the 1990's but truth be told I think it gives the program charm. Overall nice, simple yet effective but maybe not your thing if you are looking for a simpler more modern program like evernote (I prefer this too evernote). I was able to import several megabytes of data exported from Treepad into CherryTree and was quickly able to carry on. It is not as fast as TreePad but I doubt my data will be orphaned. I use both Linux and Windows and appreciate that this program is so robust that it exists on multiple platforms. \n\nI have used outline processors since about 1985 when I used KAMAS(tm) on a CP/M Kaypro. Over the years I have invested a tremendous amount of time building the outlines I work with, and I am thrilled that I am able to access data that was saved in 1984 or 84 now with CherryTree.
